AMENDED RESULTS as of January 8, 1996
Only one ICGSC was held in 1995, this Spring fling at OCGP. Cumulative results for 1995 reflect the one event. In retrospect, it was not appropriate to score either of the two pilots flying their own high-performance ships in the TEAM category. Results have been amended to re-introduce the INDIVIDUAL category last used in 1992 when Sean Franke was at Michigan State and Erik Nelson at Harvard.

Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Gliding & Soaring Championships

Owl Canyon Gliderport, CO
April 8, 1995

With strong lift and strong shear (20 kt SE low, 30 kt NW high) we had some amazing performances balanced by great difficulties getting up. Despite the shear layer finally reaching the ground at 4:00 and making scary surface winds, 40+ flights were completed safely with good judgement in evidence. Many thanks to a huge crew of volunteers from the Colorado Soaring Association (Aland, Bill, Curt, Virginia, George et al.), to CU (Brian, Kimo et. al) for setting up the event, to CSU (Frank) for food. Thanks also to Murray and Alison for telling us about gliding with Oxford at Bicester, UK, and to Dr. Kuettner for his exciting talk on "thermal waves". Overall results:

TEAM: 1. USAFA (2450) 2. CU (1215) 3. CSU (847)
(ABC-BRNZ) 4. Parks (100)

INDIVIDUAL: 1. Holland, CU (1000) 2. McAllister, DU (308)
(SLVR+) 3. Caroon, USAFA (216)

[Re "Modern Soaring Personalities": Lavona Adams (Aland and Virginia's mother) should be flattered so many thought she was a Hall-of-Famer. Mike Koerner would tear his hair out at the thought that no one knows he's SSA President. Re "Recognition": A 1-26 is a Ventus!? I wish. All USAFA and CSU scores were counted--given closeness of Team and Individual pilot experiences.]
