Junior Team Photo Album 2001

Photos from the last outing of the Junior Team, its first appearance under the auspices of the US Teams Committee, which is why there is even more coverage of the USA Team at the 2001 WJGC at www.ssa.org/USTeam .

Kolstad winners at Opening Ceremonies Four winners of SSA's Kolstad scholarship, waiting for opening ceremonies to begin at Issoudun, France.

Mike Robison showing sponsors Our Sponsors included:

CAMBRIDGE (narrow blue sticker, R)

MOUNTAIN HIGH Oxygen (round decal, L)

CUMULUS Courseware (lower decal)

WINGS & WHEELS (on Mike’s T-Shirt)

We had more than the usual share of silly equipment glitches, including a schizoid vario on Mike’s glider, and a battery in Jason’s ship that would not charge.

Our sponsors eased the panic, especially Cambridge.  Their loaner GPS recorders saved a day’s points for Jason.  Guerry Howard’s new 302 unit(a spare) was a piece of cake to install and use, to Mike’s delight.

Mike's French LS-4 Mike Robison’s LS-4, courtesy of AC Coulommiers, a large club just East of Paris.

This ship had been refinished the year before in Poland and had mirror-smooth wings.

UK LS-8s finishing British Standard Class LS-8s finishing nose-to-tail.  They eventually won the Class with their highly practiced team flying.
